After graduating I began publishing film-criticism, interviews and travel-features in Time Out, What’s On in London, The Observer, Scotland on Sunday, the Mail on Sunday and various national film magazines. It was during my time working on the Time Out film desk, with the then-editor Geoff Andrew, that my love of French cinema was nurtured.
I then moved on to work on The Observer’s TV section and sub-edited for The Guardian, before becoming Deputy Editor on FilmFour’s film magazine.
Following a period in Beirut and Syria, I worked as a script-editor on the Emmy-award-winning drama Shankaboot for the BBC World Service, the world’s first Arabic web-drama and then developed scripts with a number of screenwriters for British production companies. I also worked as a Research Associate for the development of a BBC literary adaptation.
I have also written for CNN.com and Sublime magazine and am currently working with French director/producer Slony Sow, developing the award-winning short Winter Frog (starring Gerard Depardieu), into a feature-length film.
